Our story
Our Story
Once upon a time — well, about 10 years ago — a teacher from South London looked around at her Year 12 students and thought: “Do these bright young people really want to spend their work experience week folding jumpers in Primark?”
Spoiler: the answer was a very loud no. And so, Camps Abroad was born.
We started with one simple idea: young people deserve experiences that are bigger, bolder, and more meaningful than the ordinary. Instead of staring at tills or stockrooms, why not give them the chance to build real skills in Botswana, explore the rhythms of Jamaica, experience the energy of Ghana, or immerse themselves in island life in Zanzibar?
Our camps were created to take learning beyond the classroom and into the real world. They are not about lectures, worksheets, or endless PowerPoint slides. They are about adventure, teamwork, culture, laughter, challenge, and those unforgettable moments where a young person suddenly thinks, “I didn’t know I could do that.”
Whether it’s learning about coffee farming, working alongside local students, supporting community projects, helping with conservation, cooking traditional food, or spotting lions on safari, every day is designed to open minds and build confidence.
