Camp Ghana invites you into the vibrant heart of West Africa — a country where golden coastlines, lush rainforests, and rich traditions come together to create an unforgettable experience. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be immersed in a place full of warmth, colour, and community, where every day brings new opportunities to learn, connect, and explore. Picture mornings spent working alongside local communities and schools, afternoons discovering Ghana’s natural beauty, and evenings filled with music, storytelling, and shared meals under the African sky.

Ghana is renowned for its strong sense of community, creativity, and cultural pride, and Camp Ghana offers the chance to learn directly from local leaders while contributing to meaningful social and environmental projects. Through hands-on volunteering and cultural exchange, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of life in Ghana — and leave with skills, memories, and connections that last a lifetime.

What you will do:

Mornings are dedicated to immersing in some of the rich culture of this country. Workshops might include working along students at the local university, or cooking authentic traditional dishes, or working alongside the local youths of the area on topical projects.

Afternoons can be spent making Batik or traditional beads, or having fun mastering traditional drumming and high-energy dance.

Campers explore historic coastal forts that tell the stories of Ghana’s past, stroll through vibrant markets bursting with colour and sound, and meet local children through friendly football matches and creative workshops.

Evenings are magical – roasting marshmallows under a blanket of stars, sharing stories around the campfire, being part of talent shows or Ghanaian music nights. At Camp Ghana, every moment is a mix of adventure, culture, and laughter, leaving campers with skills, memories, and friendships that will last a lifetime.

For university students there is the option for flights to be arranged for you or to sort travel to camp by yourself

We understand this is a lot of money; however, this is the opportunity of a lifetime and we are here to help. You have to be committed to raising funds and we will provide support and applications for this.

Make your Time Count!

Build on your Camp Ghana experience by completing the Level 3 Diploma Global Citizenship Qualification alongside your placement. Your work at camp already gives you 40 hours toward the award, and with just 40 further hours of guided independent learning, you can gain a recognised certification. We support you throughout, helping you reflect on culture, development and community engagement. The result is a strong addition to your CV and university applications, demonstrating maturity, reflection and real-world understanding. Meaning you leave with a qualification which is an additional 16 UCAS points.
